A timing belt is an essential component of an internal combustion engine. It links the crankshaft to the camshaft(s), which control the opening and closing of the valves.

Overheating: A damaged timing belt can cause the engine to overheat due to loss of circulation of the coolant, leading to overheating and causing further damage.
